Granola Bars!

I got the idea for this recipe from here!

I decided to do something different from the normal cookies or cupcakes that I usually make. I decided to make granola bars!!! I found lots of recipes online but I wanted to make my granola bars as healthy as possible. I took the recipe above and then modified it to approximate amounts of ingredients that I thought would taste good as well as be somewhat healthy.

I used 3 cups of quick-cooking oats, one can of partially skimmed condensed milk, one cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips, a cup of cut-up almonds, a cup of granola and a cup of generic trail mix bought from the bulk bins at my local grocery store. I then put all the ingredients in a bowl, mixed them by hand and then placed them on a greased baking sheet. I then placed them in the oven at 350 degrees for about twenty minutes.

The granola bars ended up tasting pretty good. The only thing I would change next time trying this recipe would be to add more sweet things to it. Next time I might try to add some brown sugar and/or more chocolate chips to the recipe!

Has anyone else tried to make granola bars before? Any suggestions? Thanks for any input!

Happy baking!

  1. That is a very good idea! I always buy granola bars from the store and depending on which brand you get the amount of sugar can go from a teaspoon to 3-4 teaspoons. Not the healthiest. I can totally make this! You just mix all the ingredients and bake it. Fantastic!
